Position Title :  Government Relations Specialist

 

Position Summary

The Government Relations Specialist provides assistance and administrative support to the Regional Government Relations team, primarily the Government Relations Manager. Primary responsibilities include researching, preparing, and submitting Authorizations Analyses to the Government Relations Manager for each prospective opportunity.  Additionally, the Government Relations Specialist performs the initial interface with local municipal staff as part of conducting researching relevant processes for network requirements and to secure requisite authorizations.

 

Essential Job Functions

 

  • Provides support wth all aspects of preparing and securing entitlement applications and agreements as needed for installation of Crown Castle facilities within the public right of way

  • Assists in researching and preparing Authorizations Analyses detailing the applicable process and associated costs and timelines for each jurisdiction contemplated in new project opportunities.

  • Use mapping database to correlate facility placement with jurisdictional boundaries.

  • Assists in the negotiation of right of way agreements as needed in accordance with Crown Castle standards and procedures

  • Serves as liaison between Crown Castle’s district Government Relations group and Implementation group to obtain, administer and ensure compliance with general conditions of approvals at permit and construction stages of the project, meeting project timelines
  • Support the Network Real Estate regional team on review of agreements and review of municipal code and/or zoning ordinance changes in collaboration with counsel in the course of Crown Castle installing and maintaining facilities and operating its networks
  • Provides research and advice to internal clients regarding access rights, permitting, and project deployment
  • Interact with customers and vendors to ensure proper communication on and coordination of various project-related initiatives

 

Education/Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

 

Experience/Minimum Requirements

  • Two (2) to four (4) proven experience working in a municipality in a Planning, Zoning, and/or Land Use capacity or Wireless Industry required or equivalent in a comparable industry or relevant military experience.

  • Experience deploying distributed network systems within the context of deploying telecommunications networks within the public way preferred.

  • Basic knowledge of MapInfo or similar GIS database preferred.

  • Experience in presenting and speaking to the public and governmental entities desired.
  • Experience working with design teams, facilitation of permit drawings and construction documents related to outside plant construction required.
  • Experience in constructing and administering effective community outreach programs desirable.
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task

  • Self-starter and ability to work independently

  • Keen attention to detail

Working Conditions:  Works in a normal office setting with no exposure to adverse environmental conditions.  Occasional day travel required.
