Zurich is currently seeking to add a Political Affairs Committee (PAC) and Government Affairs Manager for its Government & Industry Affairs (GAIA) office in Washington, DC. Zurich’s North America Government & Industry Affairs unit is an integral component of the Group effort to implement Zurich's strategic and tactical public policy objectives consistently across the enterprise and seeks to anticipate changing trends, define and prioritize public policy issues and establish Zurich as a thought leader. This is an opportunity to stretch from the traditional PAC role by gaining advocacy experience alongside the PAC. The PAC (Public Affairs Committee) and Government Affairs Manager will primarily be responsible for implementing and managing multifaceted PAC campaigns and political resources (including developing and executing a planned strategy by meeting deadlines, oversight of contract employees/vendors, operating an ambassadors program, and multi-level cascade solicitation). He/She will also manage the administration of Zurich’s lobbying while other responsibilities may include: Communicating with relevant internal and external audiences (including senior executive level) on PAC activities, status reports, and strategic plans Attending political and public policy events as appropriate, including Trade Associations Providing general government affairs support as needed by function Influencer Externally Focused - The job’s core deliverables rely on influencing or negotiating with external contacts. Relationships typically involve successful collaboration on routine matters and/or with peer level clients and/or customers. Basic Qualifications: Bachelors Degree in Law or Political Science and 6 or more years of experience in the Advocacy or Political or Public Policy area OR High School Diploma or Equivalent and 8 or more years of experience in the Advocacy or Political or Public Policy area AND Experience working in government or political and/or corporate government affairs Preferred Qualifications: Experience conducting PAC fundraising solicitations involving multiple executive level communications, operating a PAC ambassador program, creating new and engaging content Knowledge of federal, state, and local election laws and requirements Knowledge of Lobby Disclosure Act reporting requirements & House and Senate ethics rules (HLOGA) Experience working in government or political operation and/or corporate government affairs Ability to master a variety of content and present narrative with confidence to diverse audiences Experience organizing candidate fundraising events Willingness to develop specific knowledge of Zurich’s public policy positions to communicate and advocate to a variety of federal, state and local stakeholders Ability for occasional travel ability to work early mornings and evenings Imagine working for a company that truly cares about their employees, customers, stakeholders, and communities they serve.
