The Lobbying Compliance Analyst will receive a generous total compensation package. Bonuses are awarded in recognition of individual and firm performance. As a Lobbying Compliance Analyst at Latham, you will collect, analyze, interpret and act upon information regarding attorney work on federal, state and local government matters, prepare reports in compliance with relevant laws and rules, and file the reports in a timely manner. The Lobbying Compliance Analyst will monitor developments in lobbying regulations, inform attorneys of changes, and coordinate firm activities to ensure compliance, while accomplishing these and other critical functions:

  • Maintaining the Firm’s records regarding compliance with state and local lobbying laws and regulations as well as ensuring that all legally-mandated disclosure filings are completed accurately, completely and in a timely manner.
  • Maintaining a system for tracking lobbyist work on clients and/or matters requiring lobbying disclosure.
  • Proactively seeking out attorneys who may be involved in lobbying work and informing them of the legal requirements for registration.
  • Reviewing billing reports or other documents to determine expenditures for lobbying activities. Consulting with attorneys involved in the matter to confirm the appropriate disclosure amounts.
  • Tracking political campaign and charitable contributions as appropriate if relevant to the overall lobbying compliance function.
  • Monitoring developments in lobbying laws and regulations and communicating them to the attorneys.
  • Conducting orientation and training sessions on lobbying disclosure practices.
  • Completing special projects on various topics as needed.
  • Promoting effective work practices, working as a team member, and showing respect for coworkers.

As a Lobbying Compliance Analyst, you will be expected to apply your professional and interpersonal skills while displaying a positive, high-energy attitude. The successful Lobbying Compliance Analyst should have superior organizational and record-keeping abilities; strong communication skills, both written and verbal; the ability to manage time well, prioritize effectively, and handle multiple deadlines. The Analyst must also be able to work in a team environment with a customer service focus as well as demonstrate initiative, self-motivation, and the ability to work independently.

The Analyst must display a knowledge and proficiency in PC applications including MS Office. A Bachelor’s degree is required. A Paralegal Certificate, Masters of Library Science degree, or other relevant advanced degree may be beneficial.  Four (4) years relevant experience may be considered in lieu of Bachelor’s degree.  Two (2) years’ post-collegiate professional work experience is desired.
