Summary Description:

 This person will be responsible for lobbying Congress, the Administration, other government agencies and departments, as well as state governments, on all issues of interest to the National Football League. This person will be a strategic thought partner, responsible for in-depth policy tracking and analysis as well as executive level advice and counsel on key issues.


Job Function:

Lobby members of Congress, the Administration, and other governmental agencies and departments on behalf of the NFL on a range of issues.

Responsible for writing and developing position papers, memos, and other written materials on key policy issues of interest to the league.

Active involvement with community relations functions on behalf of the league and in coordination with individual clubs.

Participate in developing strategy for outreach and communication with members of Congress, the Administration, and other government entities around selected issues, including the supervision of consultants at the federal level and in relevant states.

Responsible for effective political fundraising, including the strategic use of the Gridiron-PAC, and planning and attending campaign events.

Responsible for coordinating compliance with FEC and their applicable rules.

Additional projects and events assigned by the SVP of Public Policy and Government Affairs

Job is based full-time in Washington, D.C., reporting directly to the SVP of Public Policy and Government Affairs, and may require occasional travel.


Special Skills / Abilities Required:

10+ years of experience working regularly, closely, and effectively with Members of Congress and/or the Executive Branch on substantive policy issues. Committee experience a plus.

Longstanding and current professional relationships with broad range of key legislators and staffs, including close ties to leadership in the House and Senate as well as relevant Committees in both chambers.

Demonstrated strong strategic political skills, including the ability to work collaboratively across political parties.

Experience building coalitions among legislative and executive offices and outside groups.

Ability to operate effectively in a team-oriented, highly demanding and fluid organizational environment -- including collaborative work with NFL executives, external business leaders, and other high-profile stakeholders.

Strong analytical, critical thinking and interpersonal skills, the ability to speak and write persuasively and with clarity, strong organizational skills, adaptability to changing requirements, resourcefulness and creativity, strong attention to detail, a proven track record of being able to work under quick deadlines.

Must be able to execute lobbying and political strategy independently and manage multiple projects within a short development cycle.

Proven experience successfully complying with FEC and all rules governing lobbying and political activity.

Comprehensive knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications.


Law Degree Preferred
