Job Description

Position Summary:

This position directs the company’s federal government relations program and coordinates public policy decisions on issues affecting the company at federal level.  In addition, this position provides strategic direction and support for policy and advocacy efforts with Congress and the federal regulatory agencies.  This position also oversees the operation of the Pernod Ricard USA Political Action Committee. Major Responsibilities / Accountabilities:

  • Lobby and direct comprehensive efforts to achieve the company’s Federal legislative agenda.  Support work at the federal level to accomplish related goals and priorities.
  • Coordinate the decision process within the company on issues and legislation before the Congress and the Executive Branch that impact the company’s commercial interests
  • Support the sales division by interfacing policy and regulatory objectives with commercial sales and marketing goals.
  • Direct company participation within industry trade groups, issue coalitions, and multiplier groups on relevant issues.  Advise trade groups on appropriate industry policy.
  • Devise and oversee program of political contributions through the Pernod Ricard USA PAC; coordinate and implement recommendations in conjunction with the PAC leadership.
  • This position requires frequent business travel outside of the office that could amount to as many as 60 days per year.  This travel often includes evenings and weekends that are part of the normal business schedules of groups in which the company maintains membership.

Nature & Scope:

This position requires significant interaction with other departments within the company and its external customers.  Frequent communication is required with members of the sales team and other business units.  Contact with wholesalers, brokers and distributors is sometimes necessary as well as frequent interface with members of Congress and staff, and Executive Branch officials.  This individual must maintain a high level of current knowledge concerning industry and company issues and feel very comfortable representing the company and exchanging views on these matters.  Verbal and written presentations and briefing of other departments and company leadership is often required. Requirements:Education:  Four-year college degree, or equivalent Experience / Background:  Minimum 5 years of experience in related fields. Extensive knowledge of the workings of Congress and the Executive Branch highly desirable.  Government experience preferred.  Experience with trade associations and corporate structure also preferred. Working Conditions:

  • General Office:  Work is performed in a typical office environment.  Limited demands for movement and lifting.  Normal visual, hearing and language acuity required for correspondence and computer usage.
