Job Description

Job Summary

Assists in the implementation of Government Relations programs by coordinating several aspects of department functions. This individual will assist in the implementation of Government Relations operations, engagement, and grassroots involvement activities.

Job Responsibilities

  • Proactively tracks legislation and regulations and delivers reports to federal/state/local Government Relations teams.
  • Assists in the development and tailoring of documents/materials for the Government Relations department and other company employees.
  • Works collaboratively with Government Relations staff to help implement a robust federal/state/local grassroots program to enhance lobbying efforts.
  • Assists in maintaining and growing Walgreens’ grassroots program and reports on results of grassroots campaigns.
  • Works with other company departments to leverage company assets to assist in Government Relations activities
  • Assists in the preparation and execution of offsite Government Relations events and meetings.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree and at least 2 years of experience in grassroots or political affairs OR a High School Diploma / GED and at least 5 years of experience in grassroots or political affairs.
  • Experience with project management (for example: planning, organizing, and managing resources to bring about the successful completion of specific project goals and objectives).
  • Experience developing ways of accomplishing goals with little or no supervision, depending on oneself to complete objectives and determining when escalation of issues is necessary.
  • Experience establishing & maintaining relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization, in the business community & with vendors.
  • Experience using time management skills such as prioritizing/organizing and tracking details and meeting deadlines of multiple projects with varying completion dates.
  • Basic level skill in Microsoft Excel (for example: opening a workbook, inserting a row, selecting font style and size, formatting cells as currency, using copy, paste and save functions, aligning text, selecting cells, renaming a worksheet, inserting a column, selecting a chart style, inserting a worksheet, setting margins, selecting page orientation, using spell check and/or printing worksheets).
  • Basic skill level in Microsoft PowerPoint (for example: inserting, rearranging, hiding and deleting slides, navigating between slides, increasing list level, adding, centering and editing text, changing views, inserting a table or a note, moving objects, printing outline view and/or running a slide show).
  • Basic level skill in Microsoft Word (for example: opening a document, cutting, pasting and aligning text, selecting font type and size, changing margins and column width, sorting, inserting bullets, pictures and dates, using find and replace, undo, spell check, track changes, review pane and/or print functions).
  • Willing to travel up to 25% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working for elected officials or relevant industry trade associations.
