Issue One is a nonpartisan, nonprofit advocacy organization that is uniting Republicans, Democrats, and independents in the movement for political reform. Issue One's ReFormers Caucus (RFC) of more than 200 former members of Congress, governors, and Cabinet officials is the largest bipartisan coalition of its kind ever assembled to advocate for solutions to strengthen our democracy. Issue One is building a multi-year initiative to win game-changing federal legislation that fixes our broken political system.
The Legislative Director (LD) manages and leads Issue One’s advocacy efforts, the majority of which are focused at the federal level. The LD, with the input and guidance of the Executive Director, manages the organization’s coalition outreach and engagement and, within permissible legal limits, Issue One and Issue One Action’s lobbying efforts. The LD is a key leader in developing and especially implementing strategies to advance Issue One’s issue agenda including the ReFormers Caucus. It is important for the LD to be comfortable with public speaking and innovative when it comes to strategy. Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the LD must be skilled at coordinating with all aspects of the organization to ensure powerful and consistent messaging, including interacting regularly with the CEO. Even though Issue One is a 501(c)(3) organization, the LD is expected to register as a lobbyist in compliance with current law.
