The CEO of NACB will report into the CEO of First American Holdings (FAH) and lead the NACB organization. This position will be supported by Four Senior Vice Presidents (Memberships, Strategic Initiatives, Branding & Marketing and Support Operations) who will aid in managing the organization. As the headcount scales, other functions will be staffed based on key milestones such as new development start, testing start and launch. FAH has exclusively engaged Kerwin Associates to conduct their search for a Chief Executive Officer. Any resumes sent directly to FAH or NACB will be forwarded to Kerwin Associates. Key Responsibilities Manage a for-profit self-regulatory organization (SRO) comprised of dues-paying members who are geographically and product diverse cannabis related businesses (CRBs). Provide strategic leadership for the company by working with the Board and other management to establish long-range goals, strategies, plans and policies. Build and lead the senior executive team. Recruit, manage and develop personnel to support business growth. Establish a culture of success and employee satisfaction. Initiate and maintain dialogue with state cannabis regulators, federal banking regulators and other regulatory bodies, including the DOJ, DEA, SEC, FinCEN, IRS, FDA, and USDA. Quickly become conversant in the regulatory structures of all cannabis-legal states with the support of legal and policy advisors, including the former Chief of Staff of the DEA. Monitor compliance with relevant laws and regulations and assure the filing of all legal and regulatory documents. Direct communication strategy with federal agencies. Establish and maintain relationships with members and prospective members from a geographically and product diverse group of cannabis related businesses. Refine product vision through frequent interaction with customers. Create a strong brand for NACB to build credibility with regulators and attract and retain customers. Serve as the public face of NACB. In collaboration with NACB leadership, establish a dialogue with media in accordance with NACB communication plan. Prospective relationships in print, broadcast and online media include Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Bloomberg, major network news divisions and cable coverage of the cannabis industry. Working in conjunction with the CFO of FAH, be responsible for financial management of NACB, including budgeting, reporting and audit. Coordinate with EVPs of Strategic Initiatives for FAH and CTO of related business unit Definitive Data. Professional Experience/Qualifications Candidates must have: A minimum of ten years of financial, regulatory and/or enforcement experience. A proven track record of success in leadership, management and organizational growth. Ability to represent the organization in interactions with both the federal government and the media. Excellent writing, public speaking and interpersonal skills. Preferred qualifications include: J.D. (preferred), M.B.A. or Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization. Prior experience in the federal government, including judicial or regulatory functions, or in military or law enforcement roles. The ideal candidate will be: Passionate about building relationships and making a difference. An experienced counselor, advisor and influencer with exceptional critical thinking and communication skills. Comfortable and proficient at providing executive leadership within a highly ambiguous space and working effectively with limited information.
