Manhattan Institute for Policy Research (MI) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, right-of-center public policy think tank based in midtown Manhattan. For more than 40 years, MI's scholars have been committed to developing and disseminating policy ideas that foster greater economic choice and individual responsibility in American life. The empirical research, journalism, and media commentary that MI's scholars put forward are rooted in conservative and classical liberal fundamentals: limited and effective government; vibrant, diverse, and innovative civil society; free markets; rich cultural life; educational and economic opportunity for all citizens. Unlike many right-of-center national think tanks, MI's experts focus significant time and attention on matters of state and local concern, in addition to federal policy issues, and often partner with local policymakers to see our ideas put into action. MI publishes a policy magazine, City Journal, online and in print, which boasts a readership of millions across the U.S. and around the globe. For decades, our scholars have advanced policy solutions that have significantly improved urban life, especially in the realms of crime prevention and policing, tax and welfare reform, and K-12 educational innovation. A qualified 501(c)(3) organization, MI seeks staff who share its core values and want to advance MI's vision as described above.
