THE FIRM
Lot Sixteen is looking for someone to join our growing, energetic and supersmart team of lobbying and communications professionals. In this role, ownership of and accountability for planning and executing work across a wide variety of functions will be required.

THE ROLE
A Director or Vice President of Government Affairs at Lot Sixteen has a fairly diverse set of responsibilities, including a leadership role in:
- Representing clients’ interests before Congress, executive branch agencies and other entities in Washington
- Informing clients of bill introductions, amendment filings, regulatory actions, votes and other key developments in Washington through written memos and/or phone calls
- Covering congressional hearings, summarizing relevant discussion and incorporating analysis into high-quality, client-facing communications
- Conducting policy-oriented research and presenting findings to clients in presentations or written materials
- Contributing to the development of advocacy plans and helping to drive forward the process of executing tasks associated with those plans
- Drafting, reviewing and editing written content and materials
- Utilizing, creating and/or updating various databases
- Monitoring congressional floor, committee and individual member office activities

- Feels an obligation to keep people in the loop, rather than cut them out of it
- Prides yourself in looking around corners, evaluating scenarios and being prepared
- Understands U.S. federal policy development and implementation processes
- Prioritizes well in a fast-paced, demanding environment
- Likes to lend a hand when you see someone who needs help
- Finishes what you start, without anyone checking up on you
You are most likely to thrive in this role if you have at least four years of experience. We care less about where or how long you went to school than we do about how eager you are to continue learning. Experience in public service – on the Hill, in the military, at an agency or otherwise – would be outstanding. So would deep knowledge of and curiosity about the business implications of changes to public policy. Equally important: a willingness to admit what you don’t know and go find the answers.
